Why Grub Prevention Matters For Your Lawn

White grubs are the larvae of Japanese beetles and other common beetles found throughout Chicagoland. Adult beetles lay eggs in lawns during midsummer, and the larvae hatch and begin feeding on grass roots through late summer and fall – often 2 to 4 inches below the surface where they're completely invisible.

The damage shows up as irregular brown patches that peel back from the soil like loose carpet, because the root system has been eaten away. At that point, the grass is already dead in those areas. Skunks, moles, and birds will also tear up a grub-infested lawn searching for food, compounding the damage significantly.

Preventive grub control applied before the eggs hatch is far more effective than curative treatments applied after grubs are already established and feeding. Our treatment is timed to the Illinois grub life cycle to ensure maximum effectiveness – applied in the early summer window before hatch occurs, while the product can intercept larvae at their most vulnerable stage.
