Premium 6-Application Lawn Care Package

Most lawn care companies apply the same products on the same schedule for every yard. Turf 10's Premium 6-Application Program takes a different approach – six targeted rounds of 100% granular fertilizer, timed to what Chicagoland soil and turf actually need at each stage of the growing season. The result is a thicker, greener, healthier lawn without the guesswork.

The Granular Difference

Why 100% Granular Fertilizer Produces Better Results

Liquid fertilizers deliver a fast flush of nutrients that burns off quickly and requires more frequent applications to maintain. Granular fertilizer is different – the slow-release particles work their way into the soil over time, feeding your lawn steadily and deeply rather than all at once.

Every round of the Turf 10 program uses premium 100% granular fertilizer for exactly this reason. It builds stronger root systems, improves drought tolerance, and creates the kind of dense, dark-green turf that holds up through Chicagoland's hot summv cers and cold winters – not just looks good for a week after each application.

Many of our competitors cut costs by blending granular and liquid products, or by reducing fertilizer concentration per round. Not Turf 10. Every visit delivers a full granular application, period.

The Full-Season Program

What Happens At Each Round

The six applications are timed to Chicagoland's growing season – not to a generic national schedule. Here's exactly what we apply at each visit and why the timing matters.

1
Early Spring

Granular Fertilizer With Crabgrass Preventer

Pre-Emergent Protection Granular Fertilizer

Round 1 is all about prevention. Crabgrass germinates when soil temperatures reach around 55°F – typically in April across the western suburbs – and once it sprouts, it's extremely difficult to eliminate without harming the surrounding turf. The pre-emergent barrier we apply in Round 1 stops crabgrass seeds from germinating before they ever become a problem.

The granular fertilizer applied at the same time kickstarts the lawn coming out of winter dormancy, encouraging early green-up and root development as temperatures rise.

Why timing is critical Crabgrass pre-emergent must be applied before soil temperatures hit 55°F. Miss this window and the product won't work – the seeds have already germinated. Our team monitors soil temps to make sure Round 1 lands at exactly the right time for your area.
2
Late Spring

Granular Fertilizer With Weed Spot Spraying

Broadleaf Weed Control Granular Fertilizer

By late spring, any broadleaf weeds that made it through the pre-emergent barrier – dandelions, clover, plantain, and others – are actively growing and easier to target. Round 2 combines another full granular fertilizer application with targeted spot spraying of invasive weeds across your lawn.

We use precision spot spraying rather than blanket herbicide application, which protects your grass and surrounding soil while eliminating the weeds that compete with your turf for nutrients and water. Learn more about our weed control approach.

Spot spray vs. blanket spray Blanket herbicide applications treat the entire lawn whether weeds are present or not. Targeted spot spraying is more precise, uses fewer chemicals, and is gentler on your soil biology – consistent with our integrated pest management philosophy.
3
Early Summer

Granular Fertilizer With Grub Preventer

Grub Prevention Granular Fertilizer

White grubs – the larvae of Japanese beetles and other beetles – hatch in midsummer and begin feeding on grass roots just below the soil surface. By the time you see the brown patches they cause, significant root damage has already occurred. Round 3 applies a grub preventer before the eggs hatch, protecting your lawn's root system through the critical summer period.

The timing of Round 3 is specifically calibrated to the Illinois grub life cycle – applied before hatch, while the preventive treatment is most effective. Learn more about grub control.

Prevention vs. curative treatment Preventive grub control applied before hatch is significantly more effective than curative treatments applied after grubs are already feeding. Waiting until you see damage means the roots are already gone.
4
Midsummer

Granular Fertilizer With Weed Spot Spraying

Summer Weed Control Granular Fertilizer

Summer heat stresses turf and creates openings for weeds to move in. Round 4 delivers a mid-season granular fertilizer application to keep your lawn dense and vigorous through the hottest part of the year, paired with another round of spot spraying to address any new weed growth since Round 2.

Dense, well-fed turf is your best natural defense against weeds – thick grass simply doesn't leave room for weeds to establish. This round is as much about feeding the good grass as it is about eliminating the bad.

Summer fertilization matters Many homeowners skip summer fertilization out of concern for burning the lawn. A quality granular slow-release formula avoids burn risk while keeping your turf nourished and competitive through heat stress.

Early Fall

Granular Fertilizer With Weed Spot Spraying

Fall Weed Control Granular Fertilizer

Fall is actually one of the most important periods in the lawn care calendar for cool-season grasses like the fescues and bluegrasses common in Chicagoland. Turf recovers from summer stress, root systems deepen, and the lawn naturally thickens heading into the dormant season. Round 5's granular application supports this fall growth surge.

The accompanying weed spot treatment clears out any persistent broadleaf weeds before they set seed for next year – reducing the weed pressure you'll face in the following spring.

Fall is peak growing season Cool-season grasses grow most aggressively in fall, not spring. Feeding and protecting your lawn in September and October sets the foundation for how it performs the following year.
W
Late Fall

Winterizer Granular Fertilizer Application

Winter Root Prep Granular Fertilizer

The final application of the season is applied as your lawn enters dormancy. The winterizer formula is specifically designed to load the root system with nutrients that store over winter and become immediately available for rapid green-up in early spring – giving your lawn a head start before the first Round 1 of the following season.

Many homeowners underestimate the winterizer application, but it's often the one that most visibly affects how early and how green the lawn comes out of dormancy. It's the last application of the season and, in many ways, the first investment in the next one.

What the winterizer does The winterizer's nutrient ratios are higher in potassium, which strengthens cell walls and improves the lawn's cold tolerance and disease resistance through the winter months.
Why Turf 10

Nobody Knows Chicagoland Lawns Like We Do

Turf 10 serves only Chicago's western suburbs - not a national provider where Chicagoland is just another market on the route. This laser focus and decades of experience on hundreds of Chicagoland lawns is the reason our results - and our reviews - are consistently better than what national providers can offer.

Google Guaranteed + 5.0 Google Rating

With a perfect 5.0 Google rating across 55+ reviews and Google Guaranteed status (which fewer than 5% of service companies qualify for), you can be confident your lawn will look better than ever after a treatment from Turf 10's team of lawn care experts.

We Only Work in Chicagoland

The national chains apply the same program in Naperville that they apply in Atlanta. We don't, which means our entire body of knowledge, every product decision, and every application timing is built around this specific region's clay soils, its weather patterns, and its pest and weed pressures. There is no generic program here.

86+ Years of Local Experience

Our team brings 86+ years of combined experience treating lawns specifically in the western suburbs. We know when soil temps in this area hit 55°F, the grub hatch timeline for DuPage & Cook counties, and which weeds are most aggressive in which neighborhoods. That kind of local depth takes decades to build, and no national provider can match it.

Family Owned, Neighbors Serving Neighbors

Turf 10 is family-owned and operated, and the western suburbs are where our team lives – not just where we work. When your lawn looks great, it improves the neighborhood we're all part of, which drives the standard of care we hold ourselves to on every property we touch.

The Right Product at the Right Time

We practice integrated pest management, which means treatments are applied when they're actually effective – not on a fixed schedule designed for operational convenience. Every round is timed to what your lawn needs at that moment, not what's easiest to schedule across a national route.

No Contracts, No Pressure

We don't lock customers into agreements because we don't need to. The results are why Turf 10 customers come back season after season – not paperwork. If you're not happy, you're not stuck. It's that straightforward.
